Fira begins construction of an automated warehouse in Ilvesvuori, Nurmijärvi

Fira, a construction service company, has agreed with Kimet Oy, a steel and aluminum wholesaler belonging to the Stén & Co group, to build a 2,600-space automated warehouse and a separate handling hall in Nurmijärvi. Fira has also acted as the project developer.

The main contract includes a 2,000 square meter extension to the existing warehouse building and 1,000 square meters of new, high automated warehouse space, for which Fira will build the foundations and wall structures for the automated warehouse system.

“We wanted a construction company with experience in industrial hall construction. Fira convinced us with their professionalism during the bidding phase, and we have been satisfied with them so far, as the construction project has already started,” says Mikko Sten, CEO of Kimet.

The project development phase has been carried out in close cooperation between Kimet and Fira, and any potential problems were resolved already during the bidding phase. The project has also ensured the seamless operation of site activities and the client’s warehouse operations and logistics through careful coordination.

Ilvesvuori is a developing industrial and logistics hub in Nurmijärvi, along Highway 3. The construction of Kimet’s warehouse building is progressing rapidly, starting in the spring of 2025, and the automated warehouse will be operational in the winter of 2026.
