Construction service company Fira Oy and the Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company have entered into a framework agreement on a concept for living comfort improvements aiming for the continuous improvement of the quality of housing. The concept represents a significant change from the traditional renovation model in the construction industry. Fira will carry out the renovations as a complete service package, including project management, design and forecasts. This ensures that Varma’s housing stock stays at the highest possible level of quality in terms of both the condition and the style of the apartments.

Comprehensive renovations to improve living comfort could mean renovating the kitchen, bathroom and all surfaces, but the extent of the renovations is always determined by the condition of the apartment. Renovations with the living comfort concept are carried out at sites selected from Varma’s housing stock using up-to-date data from Varma and Fira, as well as calculations on the site and its environment. The living comfort concept supports Fira’s goal to offer its customers high-quality and complete construction services from design all the way to implementation.

“We want to continue to offer increasingly comfortable and attractive homes. This requires a systematic and timely approach to renovations. Fira is an active and solution-oriented partner, and we hope they will ensure the cost effectiveness and quality of the projects,” says Sarianna Sipola, Portfolio Manager for Varma’s housing portfolio.

“Our collaboration with Varma will improve the utilisation rate of the apartments and the cost effectiveness of the renovations. When renovation projects are carried out at the right time and place, tenants get a better return on their investment, and the property becomes more attractive. The plan is to renovate dozens of apartments per year,” says Sami Kokkonen, Director at Fira.
