Fira will act as the main contractor for Finland’s largest event arena, which will be constructed in Kivistö, Vantaa. The complex will include a multi-purpose arena, a hotel, and a parking facility.
Arena 3.3 will be built in Kivistö, Vantaa. It will be by far the largest indoor event arena in Finland and the third largest in the Nordic countries. It will offer top conditions for international concerts and sports events. The concert capacity will exceed 20,000 people.
– We get to build the finest event arena in the Nordics here in Vantaa, and that is a source of pride for us. We have developed the project in very good and close cooperation with the client over the long term. This project brings together Fira’s entire breadth of expertise, says Fira’s CEO Esa Mäki.
Fira has acted as a construction engineering partner in the project during its design phase, ensuring among other things buildability and economic viability. In the development phase now beginning, the plans will be refined in cooperation with the project’s design partner, A-Insinöörit.
– The main contractor for Arena 3.3 has been involved from the early stages of design, which enables better assessment of construction feasibility and cost management. We are very satisfied with Fira’s flexibility and ability to bring the main contractor’s perspective and experience to support the design work, says Pepe Perkiö from Arena 3.3.
The project is the largest in Fira’s history. A hotel with over 300 rooms and a parking facility for 800 cars will be built in connection with the arena. The combined floor area of the buildings is approximately 80,000 m².
– This is a major project. For example, the span of the arena’s roof structures is over 100 metres, which says a lot about the size of the building. The parking facility is also the second largest Fira has ever built. In constructing the hotel, we again get to make use of our industrial construction expertise in repeating spaces,” says Topi Laine, Business Director of Commercial Construction at Fira.
– Long-term development work has produced an economically functional whole. In addition, our solution development team has designed economically smart structural solutions. These are our core competencies. The earlier we get to be involved in developing projects, the better we can help the client,” continues Fira’s CEO Esa Mäki.
The preliminary real estate purchase agreement and land lease agreement with the City of Vantaa were signed in November 2025, and the building permit was submitted in spring 2026. Construction work will begin in autumn 2026, and Arena 3.3 will be completed at the end of 2028.
