The construction service company Fira and SATO, one of Finland’s largest rental home providers, have signed a cooperation agreement to enable the long-term development of apartment renovation projects together. In addition to apartment renovations, Fira will be responsible for the technical management of project development. Fira’s goal is to double the annual rate of apartment renovations from 200 to 400 apartments.
Instead of conventional one-site-at-a-time contracting, SATO’s steadily developing range of apartments offers excellent opportunities for the long-term development of renovation projects. Continuity enables the use of industrial construction methods, significantly adding efficiency to projects. Fira’s goal is to double the annual rate of apartment renovations from 200 up to 400 apartments.
-“SATO’s straightforward and goal-driven mindset makes my long-term goal of enabling true and continuous improvements in the construction sector in cooperation with clients a reality. As a construction service company, we seek to develop the productivity of construction by accelerating the completion of projects, while improving cost-efficiency and quality. The cooperation agreement signed with SATO on the development and implementation of apartment renovation projects offers excellent opportunities for this,” says Sami Kokkonen, director of housing renovations at Fira.
-“SATO renovates its buildings following lifecycle principles. Every year, we renovate hundreds of rental homes. For example, we renovated 354 rental homes last year. Based on scenarios built during the project planning phase, we seek the technically and financially optimal model for apartment renovation projects. In close cooperation with Fira, we can significantly improve the productivity and quality of renovation projects. SATO’s goal set for renovations is to improve tenant satisfaction and increase the value of properties. At the same time, we always aim to improve energy efficiency by at least 30 per cent in renovated properties,” says Jari Kanervo, technical director at SATO.
The planning of the first renovation project under the cooperation agreement in Martinlaakso in Vantaa has already been started.
