Fira is planning to implement a group construction project in Kivenlahti in Espoo – the residents will be able to design their homes

The construction service company Fira is planning to implement Espoo’s first group construction project: an apartment building in Kivenlahti. The involvement of the residents makes the project exceptional – they will be able to design their homes largely by themselves and even affect the architecture.
Even the sizes of the apartments in the building will be determined based on the residents’ wishes. The future building has been named Kivenlahden Kuohu. The high level of involvement by the residents makes the construction project exceptional.

“Finding a home that perfectly meets your needs is a dream come true for everyone looking for a home. As a trailblazer in construction and housing, Fira wants to provide people with more opportunities to participate and make a difference, which is also a key goal in this project. The future residents will be able to affect not only the size and layout of their homes, but also the architecture and shared facilities of the building. As a concept, the group construction project in Kivenlahti is exceptional, and I look forward to seeing what kind of interest the project attracts,” says Heikki Ruski, Director, Housing Services at Fira.
Fira has previous experience in successful group construction projects in Sompasaari, Jätkäsaari, Koskela and Postipuisto in Helsinki. The implementation of the Kivenlahti project depends on the level of interest during the advance marketing phase. The decision on the implementation of the group construction project will be made by the end of 2022.
Fira will provide the future residents with expert help in designing homes that meet their needs and wishes. If they so desire, the residents can also choose from a large number of ready-made layouts.
“Our designers and customer service team will help every resident to choose functional solutions that match their dreams as accurately as possible. We will use solutions from Fira’s housing library to ensure that the design solutions are functional, cost-effective and feasible. The housing library offers the future residents a large number of options, because our carefully designed layouts come in many different sizes and variations. I’m extremely enthusiastic about this project, as it’s taking housing development towards service-oriented interaction at the practical level,” says Tero Vanhanen, Architect (SAFA), Phenomenon Creator at Fira.
The Kivenlahti site has an excellent location next to the future metro station. The area will develop strongly in the future, with a maritime atmosphere, close to natural environments.
